Eagerly-awaited sci-fi blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens, along with animated films Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie and The Good Dinosaur are among December’s Autism Friendly Films line-up, service provider Dimensions has announced.
The Good Dinosaur will be shown at selected Cineworld cinemas on Sunday December 6 at 11am, and at Showcase cinemas the following Sunday, starting at 10am.
Meanwhile, Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie, will be on at selected ODEON cinemas on Sunday December 27 at 11:30am.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (PG) on Monday December 28 at 6pm. This is at nine selected cinemas taking part in the ODEON trial screenings for older audiences.
Finally, selected Vue cinemas will show Disney’s modern classic animation Frozen on Sunday, December 27 at 10am.
In Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie, the beloved comic strip is given a big-screen makeover with 3D animation. But the plot will be familiar to all those who know the strip – perennial underdog Charlie Brown embarks upon an epic and heroic quest, while his best pal, Snoopy, takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron. The rest of the Peanuts gang – Lucy, Linus, Peppermint Patty et al – are on hand to help and hinder.
Meanwhile Star Wars: The Force Awakens – one of the most eagerly-anticipated films of the year – begins 30 years after the end of Return of the Jedi and features characters from that film, including Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, alongside a new generation who are fighting against a new threat, the evil Kylo Ren and his army of Stormtroopers.
The Good Dinosaur is set in a world where a giant asteroid didn’t hit the earth and cause all dinosaurs to become extinct, and an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.
Finally, Frozen tells the story of newly-crowned Queen Elsa, who has magic powers that mean everything she touches turns to ice. After accidentally using her power to create an infinite winter in her homeland, she flees to the mountains. It is then up to her sister, Anna, along with a mountain man, his playful reindeer, and a snowman to find her and ensure the weather conditions are changed and Elsa and come back to her rightful home.
Sensory friendly environment
Autism Friendly Screenings are mainstream films shown in a sensory friendly environment. Lights are on low, sound is turned down, trailers are omitted and people can bring their own food, make noise and move around the cinema as they feel comfortable.
