Music star Jo Hill delivers exclusive concert for social care users

To celebrate World Autism Day, music star Jo Hill delivered an exclusive concert for people who use social care.

The BBC Artist of the Week joined up with national social care charity Community Integrated Care to give an intimate online performance of her acclaimed debut album, Girlhood.

The concert was performed on the charity’s www.What-To-Do.co.uk platform, which offers people who draw on care exclusive, accessible, and empowering experiences with leading brands and public figures every week.

The platform is co-produced with people supported by Community Integrated Care to create meaningful, high-quality sessions that speak to the interests and aspirations of our audience. Previous guests have included Vincent Simone from Strictly Come Dancing, Lizzie Acker from Great British Bake Off, and footballer Ellen White.

Jo Hill says music is about connection

Jo, who is set to embark on a packed UK and Europe tour with Matilda Mann, said that performing with Community Integrated Care was a special experience.

“Music is all about connection, so sharing my songs with a community that celebrates inclusion and creativity was really special,” she added.

“I feel like through my album and gatherings and shows, I’ve built such a strong community. I loved being able to extend this to people supported by this amazing charity on World Autism Day. I loved getting to meet everyone and sharing this special moment together.”

The people we support loved discovering Jo’s music – joining in with her songs and chatting to her.”

“Community Integrated Care exists to enable people to live their Best Life Possible. Enjoying new music is a key pleasure for so many people, but can come with difficult barriers for some of our communities. By delivering this concert on our www.What-To-Do.co.uk platform, Jo helped us to overcome these challenges and has inspired many people to discover live music. We are deeply appreciative of her support.”
