The internet is playing an increasing part in millions of people’s lives, and many newspapers, magazines and journals are exploring new ways to take advantage of this and provide a better service to their readers. Learning Disability Today is no different and this is why we are announcing a new service on our website.
We are revamping our website, www.learningdisabilitytoday.co.uk, to offer much more to subscribers. While the current news and blogs will continue and remain free to view, we are launching a premium service where, for a small fee, subscribers will be able to access a wealth of information on learning disabilities in one easily-searchable place. From articles detailing innovative and good practice, to research into learning disability issues and major government policy and legislation, no other website will have such a breadth and depth of information on the sector.
Our extensive archive will give users access to a wealth of information published in recent years. This will include an archive of features from Learning Disability Today magazine going back to 2008, covering a range of topics, and detailing many examples of innovative and good practice. It will also contain exclusive extracts from learning disability-related training materials also published by Pavilion Publishing and Media.
This archive will be constantly updated with the latest articles, research, practice and policy so busy learning disability professionals, managers and academics – as well as family carers and people with learning disabilities themselves – can keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the sector without having to trawl numerous websites to do this.
Prices start from £25 per year for access to the premium section of the website and a digital subscription to Learning Disability Today magazine.
But while there are changes afoot, some things will remain the same. Learning Disability Today will continue as a print magazine for the foreseeable future. We will continue to promote our digital edition but our traditional product will remain available.
The content and format of the magazine will be retained. There will be the same mix of features, research and opinion across the spectrum of learning disabilities, all aimed at enhancing practice and giving professionals, carers and people with learning disabilities the latest information and thinking in the sector.
The new online service, I believe, is an exciting addition to the Learning Disability Today brand and will give subscribers access to a wealth of information other sites do not offer, in tandem with our established magazine.
