The line-up for January’s Autism Friendly Films has been announced and includes family films Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and The Penguins of Madagascar, service provider Dimensions has announced.
Showcase will run Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb on Sunday, January 11 at 10am, while ODEON will show The Penguins of Madagascar on the same day. The following day, 10 ODEON cinemas will show a film for older audiences, The Theory of Everything (12A) at 6pm.
Finally, Vue cinemas will show Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day on Sunday, January 25 at 10am for just £1.75.
Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is the third film in the franchise and sees security guard Larry – and historical friends – leave the US to travel to London to find the key to the magic that sees exhibits come to life at night, but which is running out.
The Penguins of Madagascar – a spin off from the Madagascar trilogy – sees the super spy team comprising Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private join forces with undercover organisation, The North Wind. Together, they must stop the villainous Dr Octavius Brine from destroying the world as we know it.
Meanwhile, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, tells the story of the eponymous hero, for whom every day is a bad day. He gets little sympathy from his family, and so wishes they could all have a bad day. But then his wish comes true and chaos ensues.
Finally, The Theory of Everything is a biopic detailing the early life of renowned physicist Professor Stephen Hawking and his relationship with his first wife.
Sensory friendly environment
Autism Friendly Screenings are mainstream films shown in a sensory friendly environment. Lights are on low, sound is turned down, trailers are omitted and people can bring their own food, make noise and move around the cinema as they feel comfortable.
